The Private View: Fairytales of Ireland 1916-2016

November 17, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - November 19, 2015 @ 8:00 pm

John Lowe was present at the surrender of Patrick Pearse at the end of the Easter Rising. Lowe went on to become a famous movie star called John Loder. Little Museum director Trevor White sets out to celebrate the soldier-turned-actor, but celebration is harder than it sounds, as we soon discover in this provocative and amusing new play about Hollywood, heroism and Irish history.

How should the Irish revolution be remembered today? Why can’t we talk about this stuff without having an argument? And what does it mean to be Irish anyway? These questions are explored in this provocative and hilarious new monologue about an English Soldier who accepted the surrender of Patrick Pearse at the end of the Rising before becoming a famous actor in Hollywood.
