The 119th Annual Dinner of The American Irish Historical Society

The Annual Dinner of The American Irish Historical Society is a black tie event held each year in the Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf Astoria Hotel located at 301 Park Ave, New York, NY 10022. This year’s Annual Dinner will be held on Nov. 3 2016. The culmination of the Annual Dinner is the Gold Medal award. The 2016 Gold Medal recipient will be Kevin M. McGovern.


KMM Headshot 2010 (small) Kevin McGovern, (AB ’70 Cornell University, JD St. Johns University School of Law) has been a co-founder of over fifteen companies, six (6) of which have become world/category leaders including SoBe Beverages (fastest growing beverage company ever – in 4 years, attained $300 million in sales/sold to Pepsi) and Tristrata (AHA Skincare technology – technology in 80% of skincare products worldwide). McGovern has also been lead negotiator/principal in over twenty (20) global joint ventures. He is Chairman of McGovern Capital, a global investment, strategy and licensing provider to global businesses and the Chairman/CEO of The Water Initiative®, which co-creates customized and sustainable in-home/schools drinking water solutions through innovative partnerships with municipalities, business and local microentrepreneurs in developing and developed countries. Mr. McGovern is a Member of the Board of the Smithsonian and a Trustee Emeritus and a Presidential Councilor (highest honor to alumnus) of Cornell University, was named the Cornell “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2007 and is a Professor of Global Innovation at Cornell’s Graduate Business School. He received the EastWest Institute’s Global Game Changer Award and was the 2015 recipient of the Luce Foundation Humanitarian of the Year. The McGovern Family Venture Development Center for Life Sciences at Cornell University was recently acclaimed as one of the Top 10 Venture Development Centers in North America.

The American Irish Historical Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation. Donations to the Society are deductible for income tax purposes. The tax-deductible portion is $7,500 per Select Table and $22,500 per Premier Table.
