Royal Irish Academy of Music 2019 Spring Benefit Celebration

May 22, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Join the American Irish Historical Society as we host the Royal Irish Academy of Music in celebrating the very best of their young and exceptionally talented Irish musicians. All three of this evening’s performers are studying on scholarship at the Academy and are part of our Young Scholars’ Program. This program was established to give extra support to those children who have shown great focus, determination and a drive to excel. Children on the Young Scholars’ Program are given additional tuition, opportunities to participate in masterclasses, mentoring sessions and more performance opportunities – including this chance to perform at the American Irish Historical Society. These children take their musical craft very seriously and many will go on to be the international artists of tomorrow, performing on stages throughout the world.

The Royal Irish Academy of Music is a dynamic music conservatoire based in the heart of Dublin. It is also Ireland’s oldest music institution and has been advancing music education and training for over 170 years, bringing the joy of music into the lives of over one million students of all ages and nurturing world-class talent.

In 2019, we begin an entire redevelopment of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, which will deliver a world class conservatoire fit for the outstanding talent within its walls. We will have double the amount of teaching rooms, a state-of-the-art 300-seat venue, an opera studio, a brand new much-expanded library space, and much more.

We are currently at 85% of our fundraising target of $23m to complete this project.

Young next generation artists from the Royal Irish Academy of Music will perform at our Spring Benefit Celebration, including:

DIDA CONDRIA, PIANO

Recent first prize winner in the Crescendo International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall.

JULIEANNE FORREST, VIOLIN

Recent guest soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra. Concertmaster of The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, the Dublin Youth Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra and the RIAM Symphony Orchestra.

CATHERINE COTTER, CELLO
