Artist Biographies

Praised by the New York Times as “excellent,” Katherine Siochi is an award-winning classical harpist residing in New York City. As a performer, Katherine strives to maintain a calm focus while displaying effortless technique to create music of genuine passion, thoughtfulness, and emotional vulnerability.  Ms. Siochi began her musical studies with the piano when she was 5 years old, and began learning the harp at age 9. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in harp performance from The Juilliard School, where she studied with NY Philharmonic principal harpist Nancy Allen. Katherine is continuing to pursue her harp studies with Ms. Allen in the Master of Music degree program at Juilliard as a proud recipient of The Kovner Fellowship. Ms. Siochi is the 2016 gold medalist of the 10th USA International Harp Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious harp contests. She is only the second American to win the prize since the competition’s inaugural year in 1989. Katherine has also received many awards in national harp competitions, including first prize in the American Harp Society’s Young Professional division, earning her the title of AHS Concert Artist for 2015-2017. As Concert Artist Ms. Siochi is presenting recitals and masterclasses in over 20 cities across the US. Active as an orchestral musician, Ms. Siochi has performed in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. She has performed several times as a substitute with the New York Philharmonic. As a concerto soloist, she has been featured with The Juilliard Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and Indiana University Festival Orchestra. Ms. Siochi has spent the past few summers as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center and Aspen Music Festival. In addition to the harp, Ms. Siochi studied secondary piano at The Juilliard School under Dr. Michael Shinn during her four years as an undergraduate, and now teaches private piano lessons. Her piano background influences her attention to counterpoint and the balancing of voices on the harp, and contributes to her interest in transcribing piano works for the harp. Katherine grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, where she studied with Pamela Weest-Carrasco.

Australian flutist Rosie Gallagher is quickly emerging as a distinguished soloist and collaborator. She has performed under renowned conductors at Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. She made her solo debut in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a first-prize winner of the Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition in 2012. As an orchestral musician, Rosie has frequently performed with both the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra since 2015. She has previously appeared with the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, Juilliard Orchestra, Ensemble Eroica, Melos Sinfonia, and on European tour with the Australian Youth Orchestra. She performed as principal flutist of the New York String Orchestra Seminar in both 2013 and 2014. Rosie earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in 2010 and her Master of Music degree from the Royal Academy of Music in 2015. During this time, she studied with flutists Michael Cox and Robert Langevin. As part of her fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Rosie teaches at Grover Cleveland High School in Queens.
